In the case where one need to install a (or additional) securing means to secure an item, most available buckle would either require a rope LOOP and brackets to LATCH on (eg.carabiner), or require a PAIR of connections that need to be PRE-INSTALLED. This type of securing means only has one specific function and unable to perform in case one part is not available or faulty.
